Notes from Daniel Romberger about this arrangement:

This is the final track to be arranged, and it barely made it onto the album! When we set out to record the Horns of Hyrule, the goal was to make a 16-piece brass arrangement of exactly one track from every main-series console game from the Legend of Zelda series. However, we couldn't find any tunes from Four Swords Adventures that were able to be licensed via sound recording, so we figured Four Swords Adventures would sadly have to be omitted. Much later, when we were releasing some of our earliest videos of this project, Thomas discovered an official release of a sheet music collection of Zelda music which happened to include two pieces from Four Swords Adventures. One of them was Village of the Blue Maiden, which is kind of a creepy version of Kakariko Village. And the second was this, the Field Theme, which first plays in Lake Hylia, the first stage of the game! Thus, a Four Swords Adventures piece was able to be licensed after all, and the collection of brass arrangements for every Zelda console game is complete!

Anyway, this piece in particular has strong "beginning of a journey" vibes, which makes sense since Lake Hylia is the first area. The opening fanfare is inspired by the title sequence when you first boot up Four Swords Adventures. I wanted the main part of the arrangement to stay faithful to the original track, since this is an uncommon theme that not a lot of people know. The melody has many instrument trade-offs and call and responses, which opens up many possibilities for variety. I repeated the A section of the melody (so that the form is AAB rather than AB) to call attention to the horn countermelody that's in the original track and which I particularly like.

Midway through the arrangement, there is a textural shift. This is inspired by the Lake Hylia theme from Twilight Princess -- the one other Lake Hylia theme that is unique and occurs in a Zelda game for Gamecube. Overlaying these two disparate versions of Lake Hylia was an enjoyable challenge; I did my best to ensure that the original Four Swords Adventures tune stays recognizable despite the change in texture and chord progression.
